Major crops produced in India are divided into four categories

1. Seasonal crops (Kharif, Rabi & Zaid)

  • Kharif - Rice, Millets, Cotton, Sugarcane & Groundnut

  • Rabi - Wheat, Barley, Mustard, Sesame & Peas

  • Zaid - Muskmelon, Watermelon & Pumpkin

2. Food grains - Rice, Wheat, Millets & Pulses

3. Cash Crops - Cotton, Jute & Groundnut

4. Plantation crops - Tea, Coffee


Currently India occupies first place in Milk production and second largest in rice as well as wheat production in world
