When was first railway line laid in India | The New Indian Society

Our first railway line was laid between Bori Bunder of Bombay to Thane for a distance of 34km in the year 1853.


Currently India has world's fourth longest railway network that is 68,000km and our railway network is divided into 18 operational zones.


World's longest railway platform is in India in Hubballi, Karnataka with 1505m in length
