The Indian standard time (IST) is based on longitude 82°30'E which passes through Mirzapur of Uttar Pradesh & it is 5 hours 30 minutes ahead of Greenwich mean time (GMT)


CSIR-NPL maintains the Indian Standard Time. It is the time authority by NPL (National Physical Laboratory) based on a bank of cesium atomic clocks and a hydrogen maser
