Why do we need to form union territories | The New Indian Society

We have created union territories for multiple reasons

1. Strategic importance - Andaman & Nicobar islands, Lakshadweep, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh

2. Political and administrative considerations - NCT Delhi, Chandigarh

3. Cultural distinctiveness - Puducherry, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu

Currently Jammu and Kashmir, Puducherry and NCT Delhi are the three union territories have legislative assembly
